Violent explosions on Space

X-ray Telescope Team

UK Swift Science Data Centre, University of Leicester

Dr Kim Page has been interested in science, particularly the physical sciences, from an early age, and had the opportunity to study GCSE Astronomy while at school.

Because of this background, together with a love of science fiction, she decided to go to the University of Leicester in 1996 first to study for an MPhys in Physics with Astrophysics, and then a PhD in X-ray Astronomy.

Since 2004, she has been a member of the X-ray telescope team for the Nasa-led Swift mission, and helps to run the UK Swift Science Data Centre, based at the University of Leicester. Her research interests are Gamma-Ray Bursts and novae – so, basically, violent explosions in space!
